The Economic and Livelihood Development initiative plays a critical role in supporting the long-term self-sufficiency and dignity of Tibetan refugees. With limited access to formal employment and growing economic pressures in exile, vulnerable individuals and households often struggle to meet their basic needs.
This initiative focuses on building sustainable livelihoods through vocational training, agriculture, microenterprise support, income-generation activities, and tailored assistance for the Tibetan communities in India especially, marginalised groups such as single mothers, youth, and the elderly.
SARD takes the lead in identifying local economic needs and designing programs that offer targeted support, capacity building, and other essential assistance. In collaboration with implementing departments, SARD ensures that Tibetan refugees, particularly the most vulnerable, have access to the tools, services, and support they need to build stable and dignified lives in exile.
These efforts not only reduce dependence on external aid but also foster economic inclusion and promote self-reliance across Tibetan settlements.
